Thinking Bliss

Tarot 101

History—The history is mostly myths…some believe it originates in Atlantis, brought to Egypt then India…..it’s a mystery. The earliest known decks were found in france and italy in the 1300’s.  now there are thousands of different variations.

Uses & Benefitshelps you connect to the collective unconscious & to your higher self-bringing wise information for the benefit of enlightenment for all.  Can help explain nagging fears, questions or crossroads. Tarot is a preventative measure in that it can pick up areas of resistance that may be creating harmful or dangerous future situations.

Warnings: Self-fulfilling prophesy. Tarot warns you of possible setbacks based on what you are resonating at in the moment. It can also pick up your fears (which are destructive forces in manifesting) if you see something you don’t like, don’t despair. Most of what tarot will warm you of is PREVENTABLE. You are the CREATOR of your reality. Tarot is meant to warn you of possible bumps in the road so you can avoid them by transcending them.

Psychic Attunement. Psychic energy comes with higher resonating frequencies. The higher you resonate as a person, the healthier and cleaner you live, fulfilling your soul’s purpose, keeping you karmic slate clean by all-ways bettering yourself—all these help you elevate your psychic awareness. The energy center in your body that facilitates psychic attunement is in your third eye which is hugely affected by the electromagnetic charges in your brain (the conduit being water—drinking at least a liter- 11/2 liters of water a day is essential.  (It’ll also keep you from ‘taking on’ the other person’s toxicity which can happen during a psychic exchange of energy.) Tarot helps to ‘tap you in’ to the higher realm, the ancients, the wisdom center of the ages. It is a great springboard to psychic attunement.

Why & How to cleanse & charge cards…Tarot (like any object) pick up and retain the energy of the last thing to touch it.  So…if you last did a reading that highlighted some disturbance or you found unsettling, those negative vibes may linger and influence the next reading you do. It is best to cleanse your cards using incense (nag champa being AWESOMELY powerful) or sage smudge before & after each use.

What happens when cards go missing? …..a mystery really. It will always happen symbolically. Nothing happens by accident. You can replace the card I guess. A dear loved one gave my deck to me. Upon their death, the card their significator card disappeared. I never did replace it—I took it as a sign…the card deck is still the one I use in professional readings. If there is something I need to know—it comes out one way or another.

Tarot Deck

The standard modern deck consists of 78 cards split into two sections: the 22 cards of the Major Arcana (the archetypal Tarot cards, such as the Lovers, Death and Judgment), and the 56 cards of the Minor Arcana (four suits of fourteen cards, each comprised of cards numbered from one to ten and four "court" cards).

Trumps/Major Arcana—deal with heavy psychological /consciousness issues. Deals more with internal processes/crossroads/life markers than superficial aspects that the minor arcane cover.

Tower—catastrophe, or a life situation that feels like one way more than a minor disappointment. When reversed it means that a refusal to change old habit patterns/thought process is the cause of the destruction or resistance.

Death—can sometimes mean a physical death although more commonly it comes up as warning of an ending, total change, transformation etc.

Minor Arcana—is more descriptive of places, people or situations. The major arcana deals more with feeling, the minor arcana explains what the feelings are coming from.

Wands-fire, tons of energy and need for freedom. aries, leo, sagittarious.

Swords—realm of mind, air, self, obstacles one is facing, spiritual issues. Gemini, libra & aquarious.

Pentacles-earth. Money, material. Taurus, virgo & capricorn

Cups-water, emotions, romance, unconscious. cancer, scorpio, pisces,

Significator Card-first card in the spread, gives a hint to the present moment energy the seeker is resonating in. one can pick a specific significator (usually a trump for ‘big’ questions or can pull it blind out of the deck—up to personal preference.

Court Cards

Queens- grown women or feminine men, regal, mature, corresponds to the nature of the suit. In reverse alludes to the negative/severe qualities of the suit.

Kings-mature grown men or in a leadership role. In reverse it’s the negative attributes of the sign one must be wary of.

Knights-messengers –can be of either sex. The suit determines the subject of the message. Example: pentacles= news about money. In reverse the news can either be delays or not trustworthy.

Page-younger person in age or maturity/experience….the suit tells of what area of life/subject they influence.  Example: cups—new love, flirtatious energy…in reverse….not to be trusted.

Card Interpretation: Each card is rich with symbology. As you stare into the card certain colours or images will stand out more than others. Soon cards tend to have meaning for you outside what your card book descriptions tell you. Trust your own intuition/guidance.
